Who can use Meridix EventReporter?  Who is it for?

Just about any school, high school, college, sports team, little league, travelling team, club team, or related organization can use Meridix EventReporter! The system is even more useful for conferences, leagues, and other groups such as state high school associations, who can accurately collect a large number of scores and results within a very short time period.

What is the difference between a LiveID and a MeridixID?

A LiveID differs from a MeridixID in that a LiveID represents an organization or a team, whereas a free MeridixID represents an individual (and for the purposes of this program, a trusted reporter). You can think of a LiveID as the "main" or "administrator" account under which you place all of your teams. Each MeridixID, on the other hand, represents each of the individual trusted reporters for your team.

What do you mean by trusted "reporters"?

For the purposes of Meridix EventReporter, a "reporter" or "trusted reporter" simply means anyone who is authorized to report scores and submit event results on behalf of a team. LiveIDs can designate any MeridixID as a potential reporter, and can even assign that same reporter to multiple teams. A "reporter" does not have to be a member of the media. Without being designated as a trusted reporter by at least one team, individuals will not be able to login to the Meridix EventReporter software.

I am a reporter (coach, assistant, staff).  How will my side of things work?

As a trusted reporter, your job is very simple. First, you would go to the MeridixID Website to obtain a free MeridixID identity for yourself. When you have your MeridixID, inform your team administrator (whoever has access to your LiveID...it could even be you) of what it is so that they can attach you to a team. Next, you would download (see the button on the right) the Meridix EventReporter to your computer, install it, and then sign in with your MeridixID. You will only have to sign in once, since the program will store your credentials and automatically connect in the future.

Once you are logged in, you can simply go about your daily business and EventReporter will run in your system tray and do most of the work for you. Whenever an event on your schedule occurs, submission alerts will be sent to all trusted reporters for the home and away teams. If you see the event alert and have time to submit scores and other results, simply fill out the fields within the alert box and click on submit. The event will now be considered "submitted" by your team, and the event alerts will disappear from all of your team's reporters. For all of the reporters of the other team, their alerts will change instantly to confirm boxes, where they see what you typed in and can verify it. As soon as one of their reporters verifies, the alerts will disapear from all reporters for that team as well. The process could also happen in reverse, where the other team submits first and you confirm. Or, if someone from your own team submits or confirms, it is possible you personally won't have to do anything.

Ultimately, many people can be involved - only two people have to actually do anything - and only one has to actually type anything in.

I am on the athletic director, team administrator, head coach, or owner side of things. What do I need to do?

As an athletic director, team administrator, team owner, or other manager, you will first need to acquire a LiveID, which you can think of as the main account you create all of your teams under. It is possible a LiveID and a team might be the same (such as a minor league baseball team), though in many cases the LiveID is the organization (such as a school) with many individual teams (baseball, football, softball, etc) under it. Once your LiveID is created, you can access the management area where you create teams, set schedules, rosters, and other information.

Once your teams are configured, you can then add trusted reporters at any time. Simply ask your trusted reporters what MeridixID they chose, and you can then enter this MeridixID into your account as a trusted reporter. You can add or remove trusted reporters from any team at any time.

I had some event submission alerts display on my desktop, but now they seem to have disappeared. What happened?

As you use Meridix EventReporter, event alerts and notifications will continuously come and go from your screen as different things happen. If it was on your screen before and disappeared now (without you doing anything), it means that another trusted reporter for your team must have already taken care of it for you!

Some of the events displaying on my desktop changed from input boxes (with text fields) to confirm boxes (only showing data). Where did that come from? What happened?

Again, as you use Meridix EventReporter, event alerts and notifications will continuously appear, change, and disappear from your screen automatically as different things happen. If you previously saw an event submission alert (text fields) but are now seeing a confirm alert (verify info), this means that someone on the other team took the time to submit the event, and now your team is simply being asked to verify that it is correct.

What are some other uses for Meridix EventReporter?

Besides teams submitting scores themselves, Meridix EventReporter could also be used by newspapers, media organizations, associations, and other entities to quickly collect accurate score and event result information.

What if I walk away from my computer and an event is on the screen? Can someone else walk up and maliciously submit?

No, definitely not. The event alerts automatically appear/change/disappear on your screen without logging in every time, but in order to take any action, you always must confirm your password. Above the Submit, Confirm, Dispute, and other action buttons, there is always a small place for you to enter your password for quick verification.

What does the Meridix EventReporter service cost?

What happens if my computer is off when an event on the schedule occurs?

One of the biggest benefits of Meridix EventReporter is that it distributes the workload and does not rely on any one reporter to do all of the work. If your computer is powered off when an event on your schedule occurs (and event alerts are sent), the system will keep track of everything as if your computer had been on. The next time you turn your computer on and the Meridix EventReporter software connects itself to the network, it will pick up just where it left off. By this point, perhaps you may not have to do anything at all, as another trusted reporter likely may have taken care of the submissions or verifications for you.

Top 5 Reasons To Use Meridix EventReporter

1.  Workload is distributed - An unlimited number of individuals can be assigned as trusted reporters for a particular team, meaning the reporting responsibility can be delegated to more than one person.  Often, this also increases the speed at which events are reported.  In addition, a single person can be a trusted reporter for multiple teams and organizations.

2.  Redundancy is eliminated -  As soon as any one of the trusted reporters submits a report for an event, the system will consider the event "reported" and the event will disappear from the screens of all other reporters for that team.  This ensures that the event only needs to be reported once, and redundant work is eliminated.  Along the same lines, if your team has already reported, only one reporter on the opposing team needs to "certify" the result with one click, and does not have to type anything in.  This also works in reverse - the opposing team might report first and you certify the opposing team's report.  Your team can even be the only team to report, in the case that the opposing team is not signed up with Meridix EventReporter.

3.  Automatically post results - Meridix EventReporter automatically creates real-time portals and results pages so that fans can see scores and event results as soon as they happen.   Season and conference records are automatically calculated, results are archived and paired with any broadcasts of the games (see www.meridix.com/golive), and text message alerts automatically go out to fans and the media.  With Meridix EventReporter, there is no need to manually update team web pages with results information.

4.  Know who is reporting - While there is no login process to the Meridix EventReporter (the program automatically signs itself on), before any event report is submitted the user must type in their password.  This ensures that a random person with access to the computer cannot maliciously submit event reports, and also allows leagues, conferences, and state agencies to track who submitted an event, where, and at what time.

5.  Uses your existing schedule - Event reminders and reports are automatically generated based on your season schedule.  Teams do not have to manually create report reminders for each game, as the system will automatically generate these from the schedule you input at the beginning of the season.
