you all are funny! Understand that there is a lot of wrestling left to be done before the points get added up in Tacoma. Be careful ranger fans about tooting the horn too loudly. great to be excited about your team, but pride cometh before a fall.

Dude, don't be rude, Selkirk wrestlers are doing a good job this season, the coaches and wrestlers know that they have a tough couple weeks ahead of them  and we all know that on any given day the best wrester can get surprised by a move, or just have a bad day on the mat.  No one is tooting their horn, we are just plain proud of what this young team is doing.  You have to give Selkirk a pat on the back, rarely do you see a Ranger toss his head gear across the mat, slap away his oppenent's hand or jump off the stand before pictures are taken.  The Rangers are good sportsman win or lose, you should at least aknowledge this. We are very proud of this little team, and their coaches.

you will never see a ranger wrestler exhibit poor sportsmanship whether it be throwing headgear after losing, or even acting arrogantly after a match. If you do witness that, then expect it to be soon followed by Coach Saxe or Coach Hoffman giving them a piece of their mind and some extra "conditioning" at the next practice. It has always been this way for about 90 percent of the team because these two coaches have been with the wrestlers since the little guy wrestling days.

To Wrestlerdude,  No one is predicting a win or loss here.  It's just the adversity this team has faced for so many years and have made it this far makes everyone proud.  Selkirk is such a small school and all the xtra activities these kids and coaches and wives and friends do just so the kids can participate is phenomenal.  The economy is bad, the community is facing some serious hardships, yet they do what they can to help these kids.  The also dig deep into their pockets for other sports.  I'm sorry you had to be so rude, maybe you don't have a community or a family behind you so you don't know what it feels like.

Ouch you all. You hurt my feelings! Obviosly missundertood, I am meerly cautioning on the clebration before the big party. All I'm saying is that cooler heads must prevail in order for athletes maintain focus and direction (don't make a good district performance be the best part of your season). The Ranger crew has an obvious connection to the athletes and this is, perhaps,  where the venom in your comments comes from. As the program grows (and it appears to be doing so - kudos!), more and more people (like the dude), will comment on your comments and the program. If you do not want public comment on your public comments, don't put them on a public access page. Congrats to the ranger crew, congrats to the coaches and community, and the congrats to the werstling family that you appear to be building. Don't be so sensative. The Dude, while seemingly rude, has a heart for the sport.

Dude

Wrestledude and Selkirk family,

This sport needs all of you and I believe from reading things on this site and others no harm was meant by any comments.  Many of us have gone through the "struggles" Selkirk has.  Not too long ago Reardan had to wrestle with Davenport because there was so few kids.  Every night we roll up mats in the school caferteria while basketball teams with LESS members practice if oversized gyms.  I hope our B schools can get so talented and supported that kids come to our schools to wrestle much like Lake Stevens and U-high.  Guys, we are getting really good and need the support of everyone we can get, lovers of the "oldest and greatest" sport.  I absolutely love watching Republic, knowing what they go through to be successful, and they beat anyone.  We have beaten big school wrestlers alot, and Bacon WON tri-state 2 years now!!!  My son beat the recently ranked 6th in 4A at Tri-state 22-7 in less than five minutes and has been beaten by a teammate in matches.  Let's enjoy this and congratulations to Maupin who beat Maycumber and Rangers was right, I was wrong.  But you know what, both are really good.  See everyone at state if my son is lucky enough to go.

Papa

As a Republic Alum, I remember the time that was spent with the Mat Rats program there when I was growing up only to see the High School Program down in the dumps..

In came a coach that had more passion and desire than any coach I have met in building a program and did it the right way.. From the bottom on up, Republic is now seeing the fruit of this crop and it continues to get stronger and stronger..

Republic was thankful to have a such a passionate coach and great guy as Jim Gubler step in and take that program to where it is..

It was in a very sorry state of mind when I played basketball there..

Top six guys in rankings going to regionals.  K9, R9, P9, TB8.  No. 1's   K2, R1, P2, TBo.  Republic clear favorite.  Reardan has a ligitmate case to bring 10, Kittitas 9, Pomeroy 10 with non-ranked guys.  Added to this Republic pins.

Final answer: busy team race and I will know much more after this weekend.  The 5-3 split really hurts TB and really helps Kittitas and Pomeroy.  But belive me anything could happen.

Republic still favorite, but watch out.

Papa

I understand that every team would prefer the role of underdog to keep their troops highly motivated. But math is still math....it can be misquoted, ignored or taken out of context but it does not lie......if everything wrestled out exactly as ranked now...Reardan gets 130 and the rest in the high 90s. Add to this that in this scenario Republic has VERY little room to improve on the theoretic rankings math, having already received points for 1st place in this scenario for 4 of their 6 person team and 3rd for another. Not much room to improve on that 95ish projection. On the other hand, Pom/Kitt/Rear have many weights where their kids could improve on the theoretic finish in the rankings....AND double the State participants to match and overrun any Republic pin bonus points. No other way to see it from a cold logic standpoint.....for Republic to win they must have every member live up to their highest potential AND have some let downs from each of the other 3 big Eastside teams. Wishful thinking considering that all three of the other Eastside squads have much experience with the Dome pressures and the history of the Westside success at the Dome vs. any advancing Eastside opponent( look back at the Rear state title year where they had 4 or 5 wins in 1 / 4 matchups that carried that team to the title) does not offer much hope for the Tigers. Papa is right that this week, and at the Dome, the Pom/Kitt/Rear teams will be beating up on each other and shifting positions on the podium from this week to next.....but in the end, unfortunately for the Tigers.....a Pom/Kitt/Rear kid will win in each of those matchups. Math requires a "Perfect Storm" of several individual match outcomes, that the Tigers have no control over to open the door for Republic.......how can that situation allow Republic to be tagged as the Favorites?

because they are awesome! that's how. TC - too much talk about math and scenarios. Like the dude has been predicting - it will most certainly come down the team that performs in tacoma. Until the tigers fall, they are the team to beat.
