The Carroll/Whitehurst intrigue will make the Hawks entertaining this season...which is more than can be said for the past few seasons.

"I'm not going to be suckered with the media talking about how great Whitehurst was against the 2nd or 3rd string."... vanilla defenses.

Nonetheless, he made reads and was accurate and his fundamentals looked sound. But that's not the Hawks problem. Matt has the tools to be a good NFL QB still, not great but good. It's a matter of a poor offensive line, inability to pick up blitzs, a receiving corp that doesn't run sharp routes and fight for the ball in the air and a lack of a consistent run game. You could also add that due to defensive and special teams play field position and constantly playing from behind. It isn't that they totally suck, it's just that they're below average everywhere and don't have something strong to hang their passing game on.

I am a big Hasseldick fan but this comment kind of bothered me.

"There's a couple of things I would like to see again or maybe do differently," he said. "But it's so hard because it happens so fast. "

That's not what you want to hear your starting QB say, that's something Rookies say, not seasoned veterans.

With a backup who not only played like but looks like

"A Savior" maybe he's a little worried.

Hey doty street, try to have mercy on Honcho.  You see, back in his day when he was on the all mighty Winlock football team, he got severely whipped liked a red-headed step child and never really recovered when he played my Pirates......

From time to time he can be caught just wandering around the Yard Birds 24/7/365 garage sale mumbling to himself fearful recollections of those games.  Word has it he started mending when he jumped ship to Pvine but it started all over again the first match-up with us.

Need to get Matt more comfortable.

Three pronged running back attack tonight for first time.

D started slow but finished strong last game, need to start strong tonight.

I'm noticing no one has commented since that wonderful display of talent on Saturday.

Are you fans still excited about the season?

Doty Street - It's fans like yourself that give us the Mariners...... The only way to get these owners to give the fans a team that will compete is to quit watching these pathetic teams they place on the field.

Worse yet, did you see on Sunday how good the 49'er defense looked? Alex Smith looked a lot more calm and accurate too. But again both for the Hawks and the Niners it's pre-season and you just can't make too much of pre-season. That said, dam the creek dorine the San Fran defense looked pretty good.

And before I get jumped on about the Niners know that I hate the Niners and wish it were not so, but wish in one hand and poop in the other...

Let's not be blind here...... It doesn't matter if it's preseason or the Super Bowl; this Seahawk team cannot Block or Tackle. Their corners are undersized, and cannot cover ANY receiver. Their Defensive Line loves to dance, and they never puts any pressure on the QB.

The one thing I see in this preseason is basic football fundamentals, which the Seachickens are the worst at. Focus on this one thing....
When the opposing team runs the ball, their running back gets a minimum of 4-5 yards a carry.
Our running back is getting crushed in the backfield.

THIS IS BASIC FOOTBALL. If they can't somewhat succeed at that, what are they going to be good at? The TD Hassleback threw was on a broken play and an improv. Does anyone think the other 1st strings are trying to score on improvisation, or are the honing their football basics?

If this Seahawk team wins 3 games, it will be a miracle.

Also..... I called the Mariners bluff in April. It might have been the 2nd or third week of the season, when I saw how crappy that team was.

What were the pundits and sports media saying?
"It's too early to tell."
"It's only the 3rd week of the season."
"Once this team starts hitting, everything will be alright."

I'm calling a spade a spade. This team sucks just like the Mariners.

I laughed at this.

Check the facts. Winlock stinks, but their History isn't all bad.

The one thing I remembered about Adnoid in my hay-day was that I was impressed they showed up.

I think when you were playing for Winlock, Reboin somehow ended up as a head coach for us.  It would make  sense that Winlock actually won a football game against us.  Yep, those were dark days back then........

You can understand how one could overlook such short span in the confines of time.

I'll tell you this, Okung looked more like a fifth round project than a first round phenom. If Seattle is going to start him at LT it's going to be a long season. I was particularly unimpressed with his ability to block NFL linebackers in the running game. I’m sure that some of it has to do with learning a new system and being a little intimidated but he didn’t look physically equal to the task. It’s early and again can’t make too much of preseason and I’m sure he’ll mature into a competent  tackle but if you’re pinning your hopes on him spearheading a turnaround on the O-line you may get blindsided by reality and broken QBs. The Hawks are going to have to give him a ton of help because right now he’s a weak link.

The player Seattle should have drafted Spiller up in Buffalo is looking very good however. Prediction: Spiller sets the NFL record for kick return average and take two to the house this season.

Speaking Spiller, who does this remind you of???? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4NkTObDuAZc ... And the guy he reminds me of, only getting north south quicker and one more gear in the open feild, didn't need a great line to gain a lot of yards...

I have a feeling the 2010 Seattle draft will end up only a couple places below the '84 Portland Trail Blazers...
