I will say this - If Coach Sanchez doesn't win the Coach of the Year honors across the state in every publication possible then something is WRONG!!

That was a team that got better each and every week and wrapped up a Gold Ball in the process..

Much like the Asotin team that really did win the Title..

I say "ENJOY IT !!!"  Next year will be ugly in the cross overs.  The Central will take 4 of the 5.

I heard a rumor this week, ( I know a 1st on Bsports) that Raymond has a head football coaching opening.  Anyone know any more on this or is it just a rumor.  I don't know coach Cavender very well but he seemed like a nice enough guy and their is loads of talent in the program.  Someone will inherit a very good football team.

Friese and Sanchez snuck theirs in ahead of you.  Maybe you three can co-op it?

Wow, just how many D4 coaching jobs are up for grabs?  I know that Mossyrock was looking for one and PeEll's is a question at the very least.

Could you imagine a real hot dog coach moving to Raymond and bringing memories of the '70's back to reality?

UM

Accomplishing what you are insinuatating will be much more difficult than bringing in a hotshot coach. Just trust me on this one.

Your right Nasty...

What did they go, maybe 3 years undefeated?

Coach Johnson's Dad was the assistant during that reign of terror.  That happens to be where he got his ideas for the Bone this year if I remember correct.

I would be surprised if the Raymond job makes it out of the internal application process.  Most likely the job will go to one of this last season's assistants.  I won't throw the name out there until it's official, but he is a Raymond grad and well qualified.

UM

Correct in that Coach Johnson's Dad was an assistant during the reign of terror. And yes coach Johnson got plenty of ideas on the bone from Dad. Coach Johnson Ran the bone 12-13 years ago at Ilwaco. We liked it as I stated in an earlier post the Big Khunia and were prepared to defend after we ran it from time to time. Both Johnson's are GOOD PEOPLE and GOOD FRIENDS.

We're lucky to have them BOTH on our sidelines....

As for the Bone, let me make one thing crystal clear, it's not for everyone.  To run it fluently and to be unstoppable with it, you need a solid line and a backfield that eats nails and drinks gasoline for breakfast.  Nearly every play, everyone in the backfield is going to get hit or administer one every play.  Obviously, the one you hope that doesn't get hit is the kid that's got the ball.

That offense is built on deception up to the very last milli-second.  When the qb makes the decision to give it away, it's because he's about to get pummeled.  If he keeps it, his half back is about to get the same treatment.

I've got all the confidence that Johnson has taken that into consideration for next year with Zurfluh at the helm.

I am a big fan of the bone but am also of the spread....Heck, everything he's thrown on the field over his tenure out here has been good.

Good synopsis of the bone UM. Back in 1981 we were running it and South Bend was really keying on our stud halfway pretineer beat him half to death by halftime. Our fullback was a good fifty pounds lighter at 140 pounds. So at halftime we decided to fake it to the stud halfback in our play calling and faking it to him and having the fullback follow him. Good adjustment as the halfback got in on a lot of payback and our fullback had a career night following his awesome display of blocking.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Option_offense

This is a good breakdown of a few variations.  I couldn't find it today but somewhere recently I read that the record amount of offensive points scored in a season in highschool football (somewhere in the upper 800's) was done from the bone formation.  That team averaged, I believe, 61 points a game through the finals....
