Well since I asked....
Both are long and athletic, both are young, both can get up and down the court offensively and defensively, both have a go to star, both have solid supporting casts and both believe they are the cat's meow.
Advantage Reardan; Deeper with long athletes.
Advantage Brewster: Those girls have been prepared from birth for this moment.
We'll see how much Reardan grew while missing Moos. I think the two prime stars cancel each other out and the game will come down to whose got the better second level stars both in quality and quality and them finding points and defensively limiting the other's big star. Reardan must hit their foul shots while Brewster mussn't let this come down to the deepness of the bench.
Whoever gets the most points off the other's press will win. I know Reardan has worked all season to perfect their halfcourt game but Indians when Brewster press you will need to attack and either run them out of it or make them pay a high price for what they get from it.

The biggest difference in this game will be whether Reardan will play the running game or not. That is their strength that other teams will have a hard time matching. Whoever wins the fast break points battle will win this one.

This game plain and simple should come down to effort! If Reardan has players that take plays off in regard to effort the Bears will hurt them bad. If Reardan matches the effort level it will be a dog fight. could very easily come down to foul trouble and free throws. Most tough games usually do!!

Foul shooting is always a big deal, doubly so this time of year. Good luck to your Indians, GO D7!

Hard fought game, with the Lady Bears coming out on top 46-41. Bears led by as much as 10 but Reardan fought back to take the lead by two in the 3rd. Clutch 3 by Becky Mae late in the 4th with a foul behind the arc and Corina Gebbers converts all 3 with 24 seconds left. Moos held to 8 pts for the game. Chandler Smith with 13 and Becky Mae with 11 (I think) for the Bears. Great game but officiating was not so good on both sides.

This was a very entertaining game to watch...from a relatively neutral standpoint, thought the officiating was actually quite appropriate for a State level game. It is all about style, and the game was called consistently. From my seat...Fr. Chandler Smith is stepping forward as a team leader and Jessie Hammons coming off the bench held her own against the taller Reardan front line.
Having not seen Reardan all year, it appeared Moos was on and off the floor more than a player of her profile would be in this kind of game. Adn when she was on the bench, she appeared to be winded. Almost as if she was fighting a bug, but have no information to indicate that. She did make an amazing play on a ball headed out of bounds at the south end of the gym, flipping it back to a teammate and starting a break off the save. We were impressed with her at State as a frosh last year. Too bad she and Smith don't play against each other regularly. That would be a fun match up to watch over the next two years.
What also stood out was the sportsmanship in this game. Both coaches ought to be applauded for the classiness of their girls on the floor.
Didn't see NW Christian-Asotin, but was told it was a snoozer game. Have no clue what tomorrow brings, but would guess Reardan has the edge.

Moos has mono. She has just come back. Long ways from her normal self. Not sure Reardan will have her tomorrow. Went to hospital to check elbow hurt toward the end. Reardan has had plenty of players step up this season...plenty of missed lay ups, bad passes and open J's missed.
The call toward the end was pretty bad on awarding three shots...did not cost the game, but to go over and over rule the guy that made the call and be wrong by such a wide margin...wow. Gebbers left the floor two feet inside the arc and I am pretty sure on the recording can hear the shot clock expire. This is a Sony HD Handycam and is amazingly clear. 46-41 final. The 39-37 lead reported earlier was in the 4th quarter for Reardan...not 3rd.
You just cannot miss that many bunnies and expect to win against the Tier 1 teams.

Very well might see this pairing for the Gold Ball. What's cool about both teams, key players are underclassmen. Bodes well for the future.
Hope the Indians can make Spokane and a healthy Moos is ready to go.

Late news this morning from a Reardan mom is that Moos hurt her elbow on the aforementioned out of bounds play, and, reportedly, had to visit the ER to have it checked out...status unknown for today. Uncorroborated research seems to indicate Reardan can win this game with, or without Moos in the lineup.

I was very impressed with the officiating all night.. I think they let the teams play in all four games. Never once felt that there was an official trying to take over a game..
What I did notice was the familiarity with some of the teams in the last two games though.. Two D7 teams and two area teams but that is expected in this type of format.

I had the same viewpoint on that play and at the speed of it, it was a bang bang at the end of the shot clock.. Being a "3" or not, I could have gone either way but didn't have replay.. I almost made that comment on the air too but I can see where they called it a "3"..

When two good teams play all you hope for your team is a chance to win it at the end. Sounds like both got their chance.

been laying low in the weeds. a little nervous going into the game last night. yogi land was celebrating last night by knocking off the powerhouses from d7 in colfax and reardan.
if brewster shoots even close to how they normally do, they win by 15. reardan looked like they had on film and when i watched them earlier in the year. colfax is in every game due to coaching, great one down there.
if reardan ever finds a way to isolate moos on one side of the floor with shooters in the corner and opposite wing - watch out. she was exciting to watch play last night.

Give Reardan some credit for Brewster's subpar shooting.....actually according to the official stts both teams shot poorly....might've been the defense each team played. Rom the field Brewster shot 31.3% and Reardan shot 23.2%. What a fun game for all.

Just returned home. Great game for the kids and fans to experience last night. Tier 1 teams should challenge each other.
Congrats on a nice season for NWC as they bow out today. D7 Coach of the year and a very improved team for Coach Connell and the Crusaders.

Having never seen Reardan play, and only going off of tribepride and cougarbarts posts,I think Reardan could have a Jeykll/Hyde complex. Napavine passes and sets up their shots with machine-like precision. They are well coached, and team ball is always put first and foremost. I have seen the Lady Tigers several times and they do not get rattled. I give Napa the edge, but will say whoever wins this game will be playing for the gold ball. (JMO)

Moos was indeed, back and looked stronger today. A few days more practice and she should be near top form for State. Reardan will be tough. Some in Wenatchee think that Brewster and Reardan may well meet again on Saturday. Reardan's disadvantage might be their collective age, but they were there last year and did well. They do have Napavine looming. Dormier was hot from the circle today.
Brewster looks to have a tough opener against Toutle Lake. LR is big, and deceptively quick, but they need to hit the outside shot, and have been somewhat inconsistent this year from the perimeter. Look for the Lady Bears to "press on" to the final game out of the top bracket. They are oh-so quick and play solid full court defense.

You are correct about Coach Connell.. NWC has greatly improved in all aspects from their first December game I watched. Lots of young talent there. Be fun to watch them grow over the next couple years..

voice reardan doesn't have a jeykl/hyde complex, they just don't play good basketball complex! They are talented a team as there is out there but win on talent alone! And talent wins games against NWC, but not against teams like Napavine that play a smart brand of basketball! I come away this weekend with the realization that Reardan still does not rebound, play shut down defense or have any kind of rhythem with their offense! It has been said on here if Reardan gets rolling the would be a dominating team, which i totally agree with, but since they are at game 20 something and still haven't jelled into a good basketball team, thursday is going to be a good game but i don't see Reardan playing saturday night!
