I am not blaming anyone..  I was surprised that it wasn't broken easier..

I could care less who is coaching, playing, or supporting any team.  I will tell you that much.  I have no eggs in this basket or anyother basket across the state.

I will tell you that I like Coach Shields.  He is a great guy and hope the best for him as well as the rest of the Reardan Faithful.  Since 97', I have always had a soft spot in my heart for them..

Heck I don't even coach anymore, so I get to be just like every other media member out there and tell you what I saw.  Take it as you will.

Brewster was the aggressor in the first half and drew many of those fouls.  Where there some bogus calls, I am sure there were.  There always is.  What happened in the 2nd half to slow the Brewster guards down and eliminate the fouls was the switch to a 1-2-2 zone. This kept the Bears from penetrating and causing Indian defenders to be out of position.

Without watching the film, I can not remember a slew of Moos layins that were missed or Reardan lay ins that were missed.  When I think of Bunnies or open layins, I picture no defense around them and flat out blowing em'.  I just don't recall a slew of em'.  I remember more missed jumpers by Heath, Wynnecoop, and Taylor (Brewster) than lay ins.

there was really no one to blame for this loss.  It was a combination of a lot of things.  Like I said I dont blame anyone for missing shots, that can happen some days.  I thought the effort was not perfect but better from alot of the team.   I think that we are a more complete team than last year but I do think that we do not use our athletisism as much but much of that  is due to the lack of condtitioning due to continued illness throughout the team.

Just for a point of clarification, there were no officials from Brewster's home association (Okanogan) working the game.  There was one from Chelan County, one from the Yakima Association and one from the Columbia Basin, I believe.  The claim of "hometown" officials doesn't seem, therefore, to hold water.

It seemed, watching from the sidelines, that in the first half, and through most of the game, Reardan was a half step behind on defense, and having some difficulty with Brewster's press on offense.  When a team is playing defense as Reardan was in the first half, they tend to foul more, reaching for the ball instead of playing defense with stable, well positioned feet and good quick lateral movement.

With a healthy team, Spokane could prove a different result should the two meet again.  It would be a great game, wish I could be there.

Most teams are a bit nicked up this time of year....basketball is a tough sport and the survivors are usually tough kids, but dinged up with colds, flu, various stages of injuries that are partially healed or won't heal until a couple of weaks rest.  Everyone who is a little bit critical of how their favorite team is doing or not should be thankful that they have( in this case Reardan) a what appeared in this game a high class coach and a high class team in both ability but character.  I would like to think these two could play 10 times and go 5-5.  Here in Brewster we have a lot of respect for those Reardan girls.

Im just going to say that for me and a slew of other observers (some with ties and some without ties to reardan) that Reardan is not playing up to their capabilities, Im not going to micro manage every thing that happens, but the end result needs to be a quality game of basketball, gold ball or not!  I believe right now Reardan is playing worse, than last year and yes i can use that as a yard stick to their capablities!  Next week if Reardan comes out and plays some good basketball, win or lose thats all i would like to see!  If they don't you have to figure out why not!

Cbart - we can agree to disagree.  I think this year's team is heads and shoulders above last year in a lot of ways.

RJPBear - and Reardan has a TON of respect for Brewtser!  So much so, that we'd LOVE to play you again...SOON!!

CB  your living in a fantasy world if you think any comparison at this time to last year is applicable.  Or do you just think that MONO is just an excuse to go sit half the game.  Answer me this question. If we would have had the same playing limitations on Moos last year what would have happened. We lost her for a couple of minutes in the Nappie game and we were decimated. Answer this question.  What do you think Brewster would have looked like in that game if Smith had to come out every three minutes.  Without the intensity and energy level that she had last year, we have to play smarter and harder.  Better defense yes.  Better rebounding yes. Less turnovers can help too.

Not to fuel the fire but didn't Reardan beat Colfax late in the year last year when Colfax had a much better team than this year??

Ok.  Ok..  I am adding fuel..

Perhaps the question as regards Reardan should have been what do they need to do to give themselves the best chance to win the Gold Ball? Early in the season I would have said simply showing up and playing would do the trick. But having listened to this team be disected all season and the emergence of Brewster and Nappy that likely is no longer true.

PG,  Reardan Beat Colfax in Reardan very early in the year.  Lost twice to them after the xmas break in Colfax and then again in the playoffs.  The second and third game never really competed.  Colfax handled them pretty easily.  Reardan did not improve last year as they played their best early when Moos, and Heath suprised alot of people.  Reardan averaged 15=20 less points the second time they played each team.  They even went to Lind Ritzville and lost a game they had won by 30 the first time around.  All with a Healthy Moos.  This year with her lost games and now limited time, we still are right there.

2B.  Watched Nappie vs Adna last night on dvd.  Both those teams look very similar to Brewster only without Chandler Smith.  I still feel that Right now Brewster and Reardan are more the complete packages.  Great gaurds and size and shooting abiltiy.  Where it will be interesting if the Indians and the Bears meet again, will The bears 6 girl rotation allow the starters to be fresh enough to outlast the depth of 8 girl rotation of Reardan. To me Moos looked stronger in the game SAT with more energy only 16 hours later after Brewster with NWC.

These girls will need more of a volleyball coach than BB.  Inherently these girls are BB players that can also play some VB.  They certainly wont be favored to win the league in VB but they will in BB.  Sorry Col/Pul.

TribePride

By this post, all that was needed for basketball due to talent was a game manager nothing more..  An X's and O's coach was needed for Volleyball and Kubick was an outstanding hire!!!  That is for certain..

Want to add to this as well, I am not saying BBall wasn't a good hire either..

Tribe Pride what does Chandler Smith do that Napavine or Adna can't?
