Like many of my Pacific Northwest brethren, I watched the FCS playoffs with baited breathe as we witnessed the Eastern Eagles win the national championship. WAR EAGLE!

Unfortunately for them, they begin the 2011 campaign stepping into the lions den of my beloved Huskies. Quarterbacked by some southern jamoke by the name of Bo Levi, the Eastern nobody's are confident to upend the rising expectations of the purple and gold. Eastern will be led by an array of players that couldn't hack Division 1 FBS, and are quoted as saying..."Our fans are going to show up, scream loudly, and watch their team notch another victory." Somebody forgot to tell Andru Pulu and Demetrius Bronson that they no longer play for Washington.

I expect a blowout in the first quarter and a half, before Sarkisian stupidly blows redshirt opportunities to give freshman some playing time.

Washington 55
EWU 7

Bo Levi will be lucky to leave Husky Stadium with all of his limbs.

After this game, I'll jump right back on the EWU bandwagon, whether you like it or not.

Have a nice day and thanks for reading.

Steve

EWU just received a big paycheck for this game..  More upgrades are coming to their facilities and football program.

I hope it is a tradition that they start on a yearly basis playing each other.. Pretty cool deal.. Lots of those EWU kids have some anger for not being recruited to UW.  LOL..

The Price Era starts at UW post Locker..  Lets see what we get..

Well, well, well, what a surprise!  Steve Brule and all his alter egos wrong again!!!  The Huskies win, 30-27, but were in a battle all the way.  Think maybe the defending Nat'l champs of the FCS are better than you might think.  Way to go anyway EWU!

Gunslinger Mitchell was pretty impressive at Husky Stadium. 475 yards passing is not too shabby. What might USC's Barkley throw for against the UW??

Mitchell is a transfer in from a D-1 School so it is known he can throw the ball..  Think Flacco in the NFL of recent did something similar.  EWU may repeat in the FCS.. WOWZERS!!

UW overpaid Chris Holt last year and instead of building on the Holiday Bowl showing, they got worse!!

Not just any D-1 school. He came in from SMU, where I believe he spent a year under June Jones. Kid's legit, he just lost out to the current Mustang QB and wanted a shot to play.

FBC

I believe you are correct.. He left a year after Jones arrived.  He was a pretty big recruit coming out of HS from Texas.  He threw nearly 70 passes..  LOVE THAT OFFENSE!!

I didn't see an improvement to the Huskies team speed as forecast by Sark...the D line looked S-L-O-W...the Price kid will be an ok QB by year's end, but not sure he will be one of the next great UW long range bombers.

I figured the UW would have their hands full with the Eagles...a team that had their success in 2010, no matter what level, is well coached and good. Save for the red rug, I'm becoming a WAR EAGLE fan!

P.S. Got a stomach ache telling me the Cougs might be better than the Dawgs this year too...THE PAIN!

Gentleman Please...................Sark and Holt are not paid any State funds for their salaries.............they are paid from gate receipts that the UW athletic fund takes in. In reference to the game on Saturday...............Bo Levi lit up the Husky pass defense............he is very good...............Price played very well and had several passes dropped. Chis Polk had another 100 yard game..................Eastern could win back to back titles...................the only stat that matters at this point is 1-0...........................The Huskies have alot of adjustments to make if they have a chance of beating Hawaii............most coaches will tell you that teams generally make the most improvement between Game 1 & 2. It was an exciting game, beautiful day at Husky stadium.....Go Dawgs! For "3" Guy (Ray)

F3Guy,
I never said that their salaries came from the taxpayers, only that they are state employees. I was trying to point out how overpaid the D-I coaches are paid in this state. Their salaries are paid by the athletic receipts and if they keep playing the way they are, their wont be any receipts to pay them from.

UW is paying $2.6 million to two of it's football coaches, they beat a FCS team by 3 points. If I were a Husky supporter I would be pi$$ed.

F3Guy ~ "most coaches will tell you that teams generally make the most improvement between Game 1 & 2."

Good thing for UW this wasn't Eastern's second game.

Sark made the wrong decision with Price at QB.  His skill set is not fit for Sarks offense.. Holt is the most overpaid piece of Crap DC in the Nation.. Period!!  No other way to say.

Bonehead;

Every Coach in America sees need for improvement after their 1st game.............Auburn almost loses to Utah St..............Sac. St. beats OSU in Corvallis........In response to your comments about there won't be any gate receipts unless they change the way they are playing..............Dawgs have now won 5 games in a row.....................counting the last 3 in 2010 and the Holiday Bowl victory over Nebraska.................Sark is recruiting well and we have a new retro fit for Husky Stadium that will be done in 2013. As a long time Husky fan and Alum.................things are looking better all the time............
they are my team win or lose.................Go Purple.............Be Gold..............Go Dawgs! (For 3 Guy)

Stats don't always tell the whole story............. despite Eastern's large margin in 1st downs and overall yardage...........the big stat is turnovers;

Eastern Eagles: 4..........................UW: 0 .....................Sark kept Price's options very conservative for his 1st start at home.............He responded very well.................3 TD passes, no turnovers....................Sorry Point Guard, I respect your opinion, but don't agree...............Sark and Holt are building something special and anyone that is a Husky Alum and Season Ticket holder is on Board are very excited about the future of Husky Football. A long and rich tradition that dates back to Gil Dobie.............then Jim Owens................then Don James................and Jim Lambright did an admirable job.....winning over 60% of his games and getting us to Bowl games....................I have been to 2 winning Rose Bowls in 1991 and 2001 and the awesome upset of Oklahoma in the 1985 Orange Bowl................plus watching Sonny Sixkiller when I was at UW and of course Marv Harshman coming over from WSU and doing an awesome job with the UW basketball program....................also belonging to the Beta house at UW, where I made some lifelong friends......Go Dawgs..........Go Purple............Be Gold.............For "3" Guy (Ray)

2B “Question #4 (just for Col)...Type a cost/benefit analysis as to which coach provides the most value to the State of Washington.”

The equation; tuition (value of degree) / graduation rate (number of Washington HS kids on scholarship) + Bowl + TV generated bar revenue / Washington HS playing DI football – % of coaches salary paid by Washington college Athletic Departments = y

So that would be around $120,000/4 years…carry the two…. Hummm BCS Bowl appearances quotient…. Divide by Lewis Country Buckhorn sales…. subtract PG's rogaine bill every time he's wrong....

Speaking of PG's rogaine bill.... 170.1 rating on Saturday dominating against a vaunted SEC challenger.... lucky it didn't come down to line play right PG, cuz no way BSU could have handled a game won or lost along the LOS against an SEC power... they're just too big and fast and athletic and deep.... and Moore is just too small, slow weak armed to play against a top SEC team.... just remember you have to massage it into the scalp...
