Red Card in Soccer
Thread Created On 9/8/2011 9:15:00 PM

What is the new rules on getting a red card and where can I find the ruling? Is that something that can be protested at a later date or does it have to happen before the game continues? Is it different for girls and boys or same rules?

So is there a different set of rule for the boys and girls? When researching there is quite a bit about the boys 3 game suspension, but nothing for girls.

You have to notify the center official that you are going to protest, before play continues.  You won't review it during the game.  So when in doubt always notify the official regardless of whether you plan on protesting or not.

The rules should be the same....I think it is a one game suspension for first offense in the State of Wa...High School Rules....longer suspensions for numerous infractions if I remember correctly!

From what I understand, out of seven reasons for a red card, two of them (violent conduct and verbal abuse) earn an automatic three-game suspension, at least for boys in Washington.  A red card for denying a clear goal-scoring opportunity, to give one example, would result in a standard one-game suspension.
