RE: 2012 NFL Draft

Sorry but I just can't get over the Hawks selecting Bruce Irvin with the #15 overall pick. When will Carroll understand the difference between the college game and the NFL? Carroll is fascinated by his speed. Guess what Petey Boy? The NFL offensive tackles are pretty good and quick too. Once they get those meat hooks of theirs on Irvin it is over, and it will be ugly too. Haven't the Hawks proven out the theory of undersized defensive lineman in the League doesn't work? Here's what I propose... Give me half the money you are going to give to Irvin and I will suck equally as bad. It's a win, win situation. You get the crummy player you desire and for only half the money. Plus you can use me for some of your P.R. gigs becasue unlike Irvin, I'll show up at camp without a criminal record.

First off I question using mid-first round pick on what will be a pure pass rusher at all, doubly so with pound'n bruise you then play action San Fan the dominant team in the NFC West and the need for depth upgrades in the secondary. I think you build a  team to beat the 49'ers if you're in  the NFC West and on defense that means stopping the run and corners and nickle backs who can stick through a play action play.

Secondly, while he had a great 40 at the combine the clips they showed he didn't have great game speed or a tremendous motor. The commentators for the pre-draft shows thought he has some technical flaws, needs development and had some inconsistency. They had him projected as outside LB in a 3-4 base due to size, strength and leverage concerns.

And while I wasn't in favor of drafting Okung in the first round and don't think he'll be all that as a left tackle, good but not great, it is unfair to call a Olineman a bust at this point. They can take five or six years to fully develop and some of his injury bug looks to me to be related to his balance issures. (too high a center of gravity and steps his feet too far outside his hips) But, I worry about any long legged tackle offensive or defensive.

Jets cursed out Seahawks for drafting Bruce Irvin

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d828c1cdc/article/jets-cursed-out-seahawks-for-drafting-bruce-irvin?module=HP11_headline_stack

Rumor mill has it 4-5 teams good teams with lower draft picks were going to draft this guy in the first round.

Carroll and Schneider watched thousands of hours of film preparing for the draft. Irvin was their pick.

We shall see, yes we shall.

I'm a little more concerned about their second round pick of Wagner out Utah State then the Irvin pick. I do like the Russel Wilson pick in the third round. He may become a decent back up after T Jack leaves next year.

As far a Irvin goes, with that speed he may get more then a few tackles to jump early. I hope that he is able to stay out of trouble off the field.

LOL,  yes because the the Jay-EEEE-TEA-ESSSSS Jets JETS JETS! are the masters of the draft... Wizards they are. Don’t get me wrong, I like Wilson but I’m not sure he was the 29th best player in that draft and would be a stronger DB in more of a zone system. And Sanchez….

Even should Bruce work out, again how does he help us beat San Fran? If I faced the Pats twice a year I might be inclined towards Bruce because you need to get a strong four man rush on Brady but in passing situations you can however effectively blitz Alex on 'and long' downs. With Smith you have to worry much more about play action and you defeat play action by stopping the run and having DBs that keep the target infront of them. If we can't beat SF it  does not matter who else we can beat.

Screw san fran, how can you not be a little excited about the potential of Brrruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuce!!!!!! Thats what you will hear after every one of his 18 sacks, 100 rushes, and 87 tackles next year. He is not just a third down guy either. And the hawks have guys that can stop the run, they didnt have another guy to rush, now they do, hopefully.

As far as san fran, maybe flynn will help keep the score a little closer. And isnt it possible to get a wild card and not even have to face san fran in the playoffs? we will just let someone else beat them.

Of course I was excited about the M's a couple months ago to

?     Ya see that symbol? (just used it again) that is a question mark, meaning I was asking a question.

!     That symbol is more used for making a statement, like letting you in on me and petes strategy. We will never tell you lame brains our real strategy.

Typical know it all, answer a question with a question.

Sorry, I understand that being a Husky fan the rest of the World looks like a bunch of know it alls. Now, I'd assumed it wasn't possible for a NFL fan not to know that you can lose to a division rival twice and still make the playoffs, which would have made your question rhetorical*.... Boy you sure showed me and my assuming...

So the answer to your not so difficult math problem is yes; we could play for second and hope to win 10 of our other 14 games then keep our fingers crossed that San Fran loses before we do in the playoffs. Hope I didn't sound like a know  it all with 'dat thar trickstery figger'n', as they'd say in the U-dub English department.

*"A rhetorical question is a figure of speech in the form of a question that is asked in order to make a point and without the expectation of a reply."

Imp'ed one: "I am not mocking you, I hope to one day be able to have nothing worthwhile to wake up for other than sports and politics."

Well them cans aren't just going to collect themselves. Thank you for keeping our highways and rest areas clean. Your facebook photo explains not only why your English is impurfekt but that your chosen career leave little time for hobbies like sports and politics.

Nice haul btw.

Some people on here who know col contacted me and clued me in on his problems at home. Erectile dysfunction is no laughing matter and can make the elderly very cranky. I am sorry for your situation col and I will not add to your problems by making fun of you on here anymore, I am sorry. And I am sorry your wife has been seeing her "Masseur" 5 times a week.

Keep your head up!   (no pun intended)

Seahawks get TE Kellen Winslow in a trade

Posted 5/22/2012 9:35:00 AM

I hear he is a cancer in the locker room. If he can be a team player this could be a great move by the Hawks.

I can't wait to see the seattletimes articles about the arrest records of the 2012 seachickens.

Remember the series of articles bashing the 2001 Rose Bowl champs?

Expect a lot worse for the seachickens in a couple years.

Reminds me of the Oakland Raiders back in their heyday. Rumor has it they would scout in the toughest parts of the big cities looking for a broken, bloody body laying in the street. Then they would go find the guy who did it to them and sign him to a contract!
