Alot of may be because of match ups, it surprised me that Dayton was one and done. Give credit to LRS on that.

It is about match-ups. Dayton could have thrown some different defensive looks at WP. Those 2 could have played 6 games later with a much different outcome. MWP had not seen a QB like Barttlow all year. They never had to defend long bombs. Zach had 2 passes right on the money. They made the plays and MWP did not.

MWP can build on this season and improve in some areas. Teams will get better by improving and learning from their mistakes from a previous season as opposed to dwelling on what might have been.

It was said that Bartlow could throw on the 1A and 2A guys. I know he could have a field day on the 1A Champs. The secondary is their weakness. CCS didn't have the same passing attack they did last year.

To say that WP was all the East had, that is laughable. If MWP was the top of the Central, it would have been a great year for cross overs. A lot of similar teams.

The truth is PG...we'll never know whether it was a good year for crossovers or not. Probably doesn't matter much as if we'd had them I'm sure we would have found fault...

Congrats to W/P for winning it all. I guess Bartlow was everything they said he was and he and his coaches and teammates should be very proud.

Also hats off to a very fine MWP squad and coaching staff. Don't hang your heads at all. If all of these "experts" on bsports are correct, you should be right back in the game next year.

Good job fellas.

Congrats to the Waitsburg Prescott Cardinals, that was a great season! way to bring the gold ball to the east side!

Talking about how WP only beat Dayton 7-6, the Bulldogs defensive secondary is one of the best, they held Bartlow to 26 yards passing with no passing touchdowns.

entertain me PG, who would beat MWP?? and tell me how. and be honest, unless someone else has a qb like Barlow it's not gonna happen. W-P walked through the playoffs so I'm really curious as to which of those teams they beat could even give MWP a game?

How did Dayton almost beat W/P. Our front line hits hard and nobody had an answer for Sunderland. He was in Zacks face before he got the ball sometimes. Then our secondary is extremely fast keeping W/Ps recivers busy so bartlow could not throw down field to them. Our linebackers were able to stop the run. So when you add that up and the fact that we did not have a consistant kicker, you end up short points at the end of the game. Same can be said for why we lost to Desales. It all came down to kicking and we could not do that very well. LRS was ready for Dayton. They studied our offense very well and stopped us cold. that is how you get one and done. and no it was not raining or anything else but a very well played football game.

There is no way of telling how teams like Colfax would have faired against MWP. You just simply cannot compare scores. Everyone keeps attributing the pass to MWPs defeat, but watching the game, WP was definitely chopping up field with the run game. MWP just didn't have as elite of a defense as was hyped up. Period.

CONGRATULATIONS WP! That was an awesome game. You represented and made your school and your community very proud! To go undefeated and win the State Championship with the competition level in 2B football is quite an accomplishment! Good Job fellas! We are going to miss this Sr class, you made history and will always be remembered at WP! Thank you

To MWP, all I can say is I see how you made it. Your defense was good and you played with a lot of heart. Be proud of your accomplishment, keep working hard and you will be back!

To both teams, I would like to say the sportsmanship displayed on the field was great. It was a great, hard hitting game and you could see the respect given to each other.

To the coaches, Good job on preparing these young men, to leave it all out on the field and to play with the level of intensity and ability this game demands. It was a great championship game!

u-dog....I agree completely on hypotheical matchups. But it would be fun to see MWP vs. WP with all participants being seniors. Bet we'd have some broken equipment; broken legs; concussions and a bunch more snot flying.

I was very, very impressed with MWP's young pups and how they played.

I am going off of what UM claims to be the key (I too believe things start up front) but Colfax, LR, and Dayton all have line play that I would put up against MWP. Would they win? That will never be known. Throw in DeSales that had a solid line but an offense similar to WP and you don't know. Then put in White Swan who is quick and become a very physical team, be a good one.

This is the year that I wish there were crossovers. Last year would have been good too. But to note, WP blew through the playoffs vs everyone.

Fair enough PG, all I am saying is if a team has a good line and just a running game, I don't think they could beat MWP. You put any D4 qb on W-P's team and MWP wins. Vice versa, you put Bartlow on any D4 team and they win, he was definitely the difference. Point taken Underdog, however, if it weren't for their passing game, they wouldn't have been able to run the ball so well. Hard to defend both at this level.

I didn't go the the asotin game at the end of the year, but it was our only decent game... And with playoffs around the corner we didn't send the full JV squad. But you are right... A JV squad that pounded everyone except Asotin!!!

I noticed the same thing. I've yet to see one of the several MWP users come and congratulate WP on a good, clean game. Guess the drive home really was a long one... as it continues two days later.
