With a weak central washington next year, I see Lake Roosevelt making it at least to regionals. Oroville returns Michael Garrett (will be sr.), Connor Hughes(will be sr.) so if they play like they did in the postseason this year, I see them at the arena.

Riverside Christian may have a shot, as well as White Swan. I don't forsee big things out of D5/6 though next year. Certainly a Gold Ball will have to be the work of Cinderella for Central Washington.

smallschoolfan,

Would you be so kind as to fill me in about Riverside Christian? I've been hearing that school's name as having trophy potential for the past two years. Have they been progressing towards this coming season? We've all seen it before where a young team has some success and continues to build on it for a year or two before finally putting all the pieces together. Will they be a senior laden group come next year and primed for a deep run? Just curious.

Honestly, the only look I've had of them was at districts 1 game this year-in the uggliest boys play-off game I've ever seen. They didn't particularly impress me, but did win the next day, beating Oroville.  Off the top I don't know what their age is like. They actually-by my eyes-took a step backwards this year from last-but still strike me as a decent team at the district level.

Thanks for the reply ssfan. I'm more confused about R.C. than I was before. In a earlier post you said they may have a chance at the gold ball but now you say they are "decent at the district level." To me that doesn't translate into a real threat to win it all. Anyone else out there have a bit more info. on R.C.? Perhaps you are a bit more familiar with what White Swan is bringing back and if so please tell me what you know of them.

Oh-what I meant was a shot at making it to the arena.

White Swan loses their big scorer-Fiander-and again, they *may* have a shot at the arena. I see next year as a bit of a drop-off, not visible until the post-season when they start playing some competitive teams. But with that said, everybody in Central Wa is soooooo weak that WS in my eyes will still pull off the #1 seed from CW to regionals next year.

I dont see any teams from dist 5/6 making it to the arena. RC did take a step back from the previous year and WS has the style of play that can keep them competitive in down talent years. Their style struggles when matched against similar talent but "disciplined" teams. But throw them on the court against younger teams and the "center ball" style of play can overwhelm heir opponents.

But I think that they hit regionals and probably don't get through. I'll go out on a limb and predict, from the east: #NWC, #2 Davenport, #3 Colfax. Ad the fourth will be the best team from dist 9.

Coyote... there might be some people from LRS amd St.Georges and D7 that would argue with your predictions.  They competed right with the teams barely above them in standings last year and both have a lot of young talent back that will now be upper classmen.  Should be another tough season in the Bi-County.

L-R, no doubt. In fact I almost said LRS and would not be surprised in the least.

My point is that the bi-county will have at least three teams better than the 5/6's best team.

Here's my super early prediction for the 4 teams advancing to Regionals from District IV. Disclaimer- These picks are assuming current returning players and can be altered or just flat out thrown away depending on player transfers and foreign exchange students.

In no particular order...
1) Valley- Coach Peterson has nearly everyone (if not EVERYONE) back and with District IV down this year that experience will be enough.
2) Morton/White Pass- This will be the 1st time the Timberwolves advance to Regionals since, well, becoming the Timberwolves
3) Raymond- The Gulls take advantage of the down district and move on
4) Wahkiakum- The Mules are still kickin' once the District Tournament ends

Here's a few from the Central that I didn't list that MAY find a way to knock off one of the four. I gave no love to the Pacific only because my knowledge is even more limited than what little I know of the Central.

Onalaska- On paper the Loggers should be down in their 1st year back in the B's since the late 1980's. Coach Bower (arguably one of the best coaches in all of the "A" classification isn't even the best coach in the Central. That title goes to Toutle's Swanson. At any rate, Bower will have his squad ready to pressure the ball at all times and could give the entire league fits.
Toutle- Has Swanson and no one else does. Need I say more?
Adna- Dotson has athletes and a deep threat in Coleman. Experience in big games may pull them through the District Tournament.

Anybody have the down low on district 7 summary of each team? They always seem to be strong and just looking from an outsiders view on everyone.

Colfax didn't just win a championship last year because of G. Some seniors that won't be there next year include beraducci, hart, Johnson, Stevenson, and I believe a few others but I'm sure you knew that right?

LRS just played in a tournament at St. Georges this past weekend. Beating Liberty by 13, Class A Newport by 20 and losing to the host St. Georges by 1 in OT. looks like they will probably start 4 juniors and 1 senior this coming year. I wouldn't count them out with their speed and athleticism they will give alot of teams some fits.
