What are the current rules re: sanctions by the WIAA for technical fouls by players and coaches?

As far as I know 2 techs in a game by coach or player and your ejected for that game and cannot play in the next game.

I thought so to. We must be in error.

From the chronline:

"Wahkiakum was without head coach Bill Olsen and his standout son Cody Olsen. Coach Olsen was reportedly ejected from Wednesday's game against Columbia Adventist after receiving five technical fouls. Cody Olsen is out sick."

Looks like you can get at least 5.

From what I heard Coach Olsen received two T's during the game and three more T's after the game clock ran out. Will someone explain how a technical foul can be assessed after a game is over?

The point for clarification is: when does the referee stop having the authority to giving T's? Would have thought at .00?

Coach Olsen had one during the game and 3 after, on a no call foul at the buzzer he jumped up and walked on the court a few feet, the refs started for the locker room but on turned back and stood in front of the scores table for about 15 seconds, then he decided to call one, coach Olsen said are you kidding me and he called 2 more. the other ref finally came out of the locker room to get his partner. this was at least 2 minutes after the game was over, these 2 refs were so tired they couldn't keep up the second half, it was there third game in a row[ boys jv, girls V, boys V] and there was only 2 of them.I thought that once a game was over the refs left the floor, usally you couldn't catch one if you tried, but not this one he stayed around to add more bad calls. don't get me wrong ,they were bad both ways...

My understanding of the rule is until they leave the floor they can still hand out technicals.

Do the WIAA or Central B League require information or explaination in writing? How about for explusions? If not, it seems like a good idea to head off repeat incidences in the future.

The official(s) have to submit in writing what happened. I think a copy goes to the association and another to the WIAA. It will be interesting to see how this pans out. A player/coach who gets two T's is ejected and suspended for the next contest. Will there be any further penalty for the 3rd and 4th T's?

As is, referees have ultimate power and control over the game. Coaches used to rate officials. Don't know if they still do. It seems like officiating should be subject to critique by coaches. Over the long haul a norm of performance level should become apparent.

Athletics ( sports ),  to be justified for the amount of time, expense, energy, publicity, etc. must provide more than entertainment and home town bragging rights.  More than a place for Had Beens to relive their  " glory " days.  Sports, up through the high school level, must be a place where athletes at this level learn how to control their emotions in emotion provoking situations, among other things.  How can they do this if coaches are not required to, or are unable, or unwilling, to do the same?  How about adults demanding adults act like adults?  Role models?

When I was an official, your duties started when you walked on the court and ended when you walked off the court. I dont think that has changed.  What I cant figure out is why the official would
stay on the court after the game for 2 minutes (if thats correct) It could look like someone is trying
to lengthen there time of officiating for some other reason than calling a basketball game.
Not the best move on the officials part, but he is still on the court like it or not, and you need to
act accordingly!  One more point. At the time I was officiating we were always told that when the buzzer ended the game you leave the court!
