HASTINGS, Minnesota - Aaron Jacobs scored 20 points, including 16 in the first half, to lead the Forest Lake Rangers to their first Suburban East Conference win of the season as they defeated the Hastings Raiders in Hastings by a final of 72-60.
Forest Lake never trailed in the game, as the Rangers used a ferocious full-court press to force more than 20 Hastings turnovers, most of which came in the first half, that allowed the Rangers to take a 36-23 halftime lead. Hastings cut the deficet to within ten points early in the second half with the help of Joe Lorentz's 16 and Chris Hall's second half 13 points, but could not climb any further back, as the Rangers press was simply too much for the Raiders.
With the win, Forest Lake moves above .500 at 6-5 overall, and are now 1-3 in the Suburban East Conference. The loss pushed Hastings into double-digit losses at 1-10, and they are now 0-3 in the SEC. Both teams will continue their seasons on Friday, when Forest Lake will play host to White Bear Lake, while Hastings will host Stillwater. Both games are at 7:30 pm.
