CIRCLE PINES, Minnesota - Nick Torres rushed for a career-high 288 yards and three touchdowns as the Centennial Cougars notched their first win of the season, a 35-21 victory over the Elk River Elks in Circle Pines on Friday night.

Torres, who had touchdown runs of 39, 45, and 49 yards, was seemingly unstoppable at times, as he slashed through the defense of the Elk River Elks, who fell behind 21-0 in the first half, and were unable to recover.

Elk River (2-2, 2-2 NWSC) finally got on the board late in the third quarter to cut the deficet to 21-7, but Centennial (1-3, 1-3 NWSC) was able to salt the game away with time-consuming drives, courtesy of their effective running game.

Centennial will try and build a winning streak next week, as they head to Park Center to face the Pirates, while Elk River will head home to face Coon Rapids as their homecoming opponent. Neither game will be broadcast on MSBN, but check the schedule often to see when either of these teams will be broadcast next on MSBN.
