Match-Up
#5 Adna
Coach – K.C. Johnson
Players to Watch – QB Kyle Grosshans, RB Anthony Tatum, WR Colton Trotter, WR Angus Brunoff, and OL/DL Cooper Brunoff
Strengths – Great size on the offensive and defensive lines. Tatum is explosive and can score any time he touches the ball whether it be on a dive up the middle or a swing pass in the flat. Grosshans has a great arm and will be exploiting mismatches in the defensive backfield of most teams as he has three 6’ plus players to throw to.
Weakness – Losing a bruising style running back like Rogers, Adna will have to look at different ways to get the hard yards in short yardage situations.
X-Factor – Can Adna develop the chemistry needed to not only win a big time rivalry game but go deep in the playoffs?
VS
Pe Ell
Coach – Ron Dorothy
Players to Watch – QB Tanner Lusk, ATH Dylan Toepelt, RB Gabe Woodward, RB Daniel Duncan, and RB Lorenzo Avalos
Strengths – A very speedy group that will rely on Two Time All League QB Tanner Lusk to lead them in most offensive categories. They run multiple formations to cause confusion and a lot of stressful nights for opposing coaches to prepare for.
Weakness – Being a larger 1B School opting up to play in the 2B Ranks, Pe Ell will be relying heavily on a very athletic freshmen class to make a mark early in possibly the toughest league in the state.
X-Factor – Could Adna possibly be looking ahead to Napavine? Will the speed of Pe Ell cause the Pirates problems?
Predicted Outcome
Adna has too much size, experience, and the “Hill” as its advantage in this very heated rivalry. Lusk will keep the Trojans close for most of the first half before Tatum runs wild for two quick scores in the second quarter putting the game out of reach. It will be a very hard hitting game with lots of intensity on both sides. A typical Central 2B game played at the “Hill”.
Score – Adna 34 Pe Ell 14
