ST.CLOUD, Minnesota - On a chilly night in St.Cloud, the Moorhead Spuds and St.Cloud-Apollo Eagles turned to their ground games early and stayed with it throughout the contest. The Spuds proved to be more electric, as they ran for over 200 yards against the win less Eagles for their second win of the year.

Moorhead QB Luke Gotta was all over the field, in all three phases of the game, to earn player of the game honors. He ran for 2 touchdowns, caused a fumble on defense, and also contributed on special teams as a kick return specialist.

In the first half the Moorhead defense kept the Eagles offense off balance and unable to convert on third down.

The Spuds built a 21-7 advantage at the halfway point behind some big plays from Luke Gotta and running backs Matt Duginski and Levi Tompkins. Both Tompkins and Duginski made big plays and both found paydirt.

The St.Cloud Apollo Eagles came out strong to start the second half with a drive that ate almost 8 minutes of clock. On 4th and 26, Eagles QB DJ Babiracki found receiver Chris Rocheleau down the field, where he was finally taken down at the one. That pass set up Babiracki's one yard touchdown run and brought the Eagles within a touchdown.

It was all Moorhead from that point on, as they continued to pound the football against the Eagles defense and Levi Tompkins scored twice to put the game away on touchdown runs of 25 and 9 yards, respectively.

Moorhead (2-4) will finish their home schedule next week against the Bemidji Lumberjacks at John Gotta Stadium in Moorhead on Wednesday night. St.Cloud Apollo falls to 0-6 with the loss.
