BLAINE, Minnesota - In a Halloween matinee, the Blaine Bengals treated their fans to a 34-14 victory in a 7AAAAA semi-final. Blaine began their domination on the opening drive, going 80 yards in 13 plays to jump to 7-0 lead. That opening drive featured the duo of Mike Thai running and Eric Kline throwing. It was a story that would repeat often throughout the game for Blaine.
In the first half, Kline threw for two touchdowns and ran for a trird as Blaine built a 20-0 halftime lead. Two 3rd quarter touchdown runs by Mike Thai built the lead to 34-0 before both teams emptied the benches in the 4th quarter.
In the 4th, Anoka scored on a fumble return by Mike Coleman and a run by Pat Cotter to make the score a little more respectable.
With the win, Blaine improves to 8-1 on the season. They will host Centennial next Friday for the section 7AAAAA championship. The Cougars dealt Blaine their only defeat of the season back in week2. The loss ends Anoka's season with a record of 6-4.
