AMES, IA - Prior to Saturday's Midwest High School Hockey League Semifinal matchup against Des Moines, the biggest margin of defeat for the Stars was 3 - oddly enough in both of their losses for the season, 3-0 to the KC Jr Outlaws and 4-1 to Mason City, both at home.

The Stars hadn't lost a game all season on the road, and had averaged less than one and a half goals against a game, with the most they'd given up in any game being four goals, a feat they'd managed three times in the season - the loss to Mason City mentioned above, and twice to the Des Moines Capitals in games they'd won.

Unfortunately for Kansas City, they picked a bad time for their worst defensive showing of the season, giving up a total of 6, including three power play goals, en route to a 6-1 loss to the Des Moines Oak Leafs. Only a late second period goal by Logan Lopicka kept the game from being a total rout.

The Stars will have a chance to end their season on a positive note as they take on the Des Moines Capitals for third place in the playoffs Sunday morning. The scheduled faceoff time is at 11:30a.
