ATLANTA, GA - Cobb and Gwinnett counties don't like each other when it comes to high school football and that's putting it lightly. Gwinnett walked away from the annual tussle in the dome with 3 wins to Cobb's 1, owning the bragging rights for another year.

The day started with Kell defeating Grayson 13-10. Kell got it's biggest effort from it's quiet yet effective running back Brian Randolph. Grayson had their chances time and time again in the red zone but Garrett Horne's touchdown catch was not enough. Kell was the only class 4A school in the Corky Kell Classic after dropping from 5A during reclassification

In game two it was Brookwood running backs Nick Tompkins and Jamaal Cole combining for 242 yards rushing that lead the way for the Broncos. Quarterback Ben McLane finished with 1 rushing TD and 1 passing TD for the Broncos. In the end it was too much Brookwood when McLane hit Cameron Lynch on a 25 yard touchdown pass to seal the 27-10 win for Brookwood

Up next came nationally ranked North Gwinnett as they took on Lassiter. Lassiter got off to a fast start when Eddie Printz hit Charlie Hegedus on an 81 yard touchdown pass and a 7-0 lead. North Gwinnett then scored 34 unanswered points before Lassiter would score again. The Rivals Top 100's No. 29 Bulldogs got multiple touchdowns from Ethan Kilgore and Donnie Miles while freshman gem Dante Sawyer closed the scoring with a 3 yard touchdown run. Printz and Hegedus would hook up again for Lassiter making the final 34-14.

In the nightcap the McEachern Indians and Peachtree Ridge Lions went down to the final seconds. Leading 14-7 entering the 4th quarter the Indians fumbled on 4th down and Tyler Botts returned it 53 yards for a touchdown and 14-14 game. Billy Best added a 1 yard touchdown run and all of a sudden the Lions were up 21-14. McEachern answered back and quickly when Zarold Wilder scampered 73 yards on the Indians next possession to even the game at 21. Justin Watts then connected on 30 yard field goal with just over 2 minutes remaining in the game giving "The Ridge" the 24-21 lead. McEachern got right back off the deck and drove to the Lion 40 with only 7 seconds left. Junior placekicker Nicholas St. Germain nailed the 47 yard field goal to tie the game at 24 sending the McEachern faithful into a frenzy, only to have it wiped out when the referee announced Peachtree Ridge had called a timeout seconds prior to the kick. St. Germain's second attempt sailed wide left and the Peachtree Ridge people celebrated the 24-21 win.
