WOODBURY, Minnesota - The East Ridge Raptors came into their game with the Cretin-Derham Hall Raiders looking to prove that their 3-0 start to the 2010 season was no fluke.

The Raiders, however, had other ideas, as the defending state champions gave the Raptors their first loss of the season while moving to 4-0 themselves, knocking off East Ridge 28-6 on a windy but comfortable night in Woodbury on Friday night.

Cretin-Derham Hall quarterback Kevin Miley lead the Raiders to a first quarter score following a blocked East Ridge punt, with Miley taking it in on a three-yard run to give CDH an early 7-0 lead. On the next possession, he then added a 31-yard touchdown pass on to Brian Smith on the first play of the second quarter for a 14-0 Raider lead.

While East Ridge was able to control the time of possession, chewing up more than 13 minutes of clock in the first half, they continually gave Cretin-Derham Hall good field position. This set up the Raiders third score, which came on the final play of the half. After getting the ball with just 34 seconds remaining in the half, the Raiders moved the ball 45 yards, scoring on a four-yard touchdown pass from Miley to Andre Hunt for the halftime score of 21-0.

East Ridge got their only touchdown early in the fourth quarter, putting together a seven play, 99-yard drive, culminating in a 71-yard touchdown pass from Brandon Johnson to Connor Lyons. The drive also included a fake punt from East Ridge's own one-yard line to set up the score. The Raptors missed the extra point for a 21-6 score with more than 11 minutes remaining.

The Raiders, however, returned the favor with their own time-consuming drive, a 12-play, 73-yard drive that ate up nearly six minutes, and ended with a three-yard Hunt touchdown that capped off the scoring at 28-6.

East Ridge will try to bounce back next week, as they head on the road to take on the undefeated Mounds View Mustangs (4-0), while CDH will hope to stay undefeated as they head to Cottage Grove to take on the winless Park of Cottage Grove Wolfpack (0-4).
