ANDOVER, MN - On what was a beautiful night in Week 5 of HS Football in the state of Minnesota, the Andover Huskies started hot with a Touchdown on their first possession. Senior Quarterback Tyler Finnes capped off a 68 yard drive with a 4-yard TD run, to make 7-0 Huskies. Their next offensive possession came after they stopped Champlin Park on 4th Down for the T.O.D. This gave Andover possession on their own 25 yard line. On the first play of that drive, Junior Running Back Logan Quinn out ran the defense for 75-yard score and with the extra-point, made the score 14-0. And that is where we stood at Halftime in front of a sell-out Andover and Champlin Park crowd.
In the 2nd Half, it was Andover again capitalizing on the 1st offensive drive from their own 44 yard line. The outcome was the exact same when it concluded with a 4-yard TD run by Finnes and a XP at 5:59 of the 3rd Quarter to make it 21-0. The Champlin Park offense continued to struggle behind the QB play of Junior Nick Frohreich, when he threw an Interception to Senior Linebacker Justin Emmerich to give Andover possession at the Rebels 10 yard line. Logan Quinn used his speed once again, when on the first play from scrimmage he punched it in and ended the scoring for the night at 28-0.
With the win Andover moves to 5-0 overall and in the Northwest Suburban Conference and will travel to Coon Rapids next week to take on the Cardinals. The Rebels fall to 3-2 overall and in conference and will host the Osseo Orioles next Friday, October 8th.
Players of the Game:
Andover - RB Logan Quinn - 7 car for 87 yards, 2 TDs; 1 blocked punt
Champlin Park - QB Trevor Garrison - 10 car for 83 yards all in 2nd Half
