BURBANK, ILL - The first two quarters of the Viking b-ball against the Seton Academy Sting were great as both teams went at it with everything they had. It was neck and neck as lead jumped between the two teams. With great shots made by players such as #21 Richie Finger and #10 Mike Krutulis, the Vikings were a sight to behold. Even though the Vikings played great, the Seton Academy Sting didn’t let them off easy. With numerous shots, rebounds, and steals, this game kept spectators at the edge of their seats.
The second quarter was full of excitement as the Vikes began to take the lead. Number 23, Dave Sherman pulled off a brilliant 3-point shot with increased the Vikings’ lead over the Seton Academy Sting. After a well played first half, the Vikings held the lead with a score of 31-27.
In the beginning of the 2nd half, the Seton Academy Sting wasted no time trying to overtake the Vikes. With a couple of quick shots, Sting managed to surpass the Vikes with a score of 31-34.The Vikings struggled to regain the lead, but Sting wouldn’t let up. With the score jumping back and forth from a slight lead to a tie, it seemed as if they were at a stalemate. At the end of the 3rd quarter, Sting eventually managed to take and hold the lead with a score of 36-45.
In the 4th quarter, the Sting’s 11-point lead left the Vikings playing catch up. Try as hard as they might, the Vikings just couldn’t seem to keep the ball. Despite their best efforts, the Vikings couldn’t keep the Seton Academy Sting from widening its lead further, to a score of 38-52. Even though the Vikes were behind, they still tried their best to catch up. As the game dwindled down to the last few seconds, the Vikings fought for any points they could get. The Vikings fought valiantly, but it wasn’t enough to
surpass the Sting.
The final score of the game was 55-61.
