CLARKSTON, GA - The ML King Lions continue their march toward a state championship making only their second appearance in the state quarterfinals in the programs history. Standing in their way of a berth in the semifinals were the Lassiter Trojans, a team they had seen over the summer in 7 on 7 action.
Lassiter won that 7 on 7 but the linemen were added this time around.
Lassiter got it started on the opening drive of the game going 85 yards and 10 plays, which included a fourth down conversion, capping it with a 38-yards touchdown pass from Eddie Printz to Juwan Dickey and a 7-0 Lassiter lead.
Lassiter again pulled out the stop by going for it on fourth down again yet the ML King defense was not having it and forced a turnover on downs.
ML King would use that for momentum and Jonquel Dawson tossed a 31-yard touchdown pass to Josh Stanford to even the score at 7, capping a 7-play 55yard drive.
Dawson entered the games tied for most touchdown passes in a career in the state of Georgia with 92. He would finish with 93, in second all by himself behind current Georgia Bulldog defensive back, Nick Marshall, of Wilcox County who tossed 103 in a career. Dawson would finish the evening 14-31 for 241 yards 1TD and 1INT. Josh Stanford was his leading receiver with 7 catches 104 yards and 1TD.
Lassiter would respond with another long drive, their motto on the night in a successful effort in keeping ML King off the filed. The Trojans went 14 plays and 80 yards with Eddie Printz executing a wonderful playfake scoring on a naked bootleg from 3 yards out giving Lassiter a 14-7 lead.
ML King was looking to respond and were moving it when well respected yet under-recruited defensive back Niles Clark (North Carolina State commit) decided to take matters into his own hands. Dawson would look left for his star wide receiver Blake Tibbs (3 catches 68 yards) and there was Clark. Clark stepped in front of the pass and intercepted it taking it 55 yards to the house for a commanding 21-7 Lassiter lead. More importantly the momentum had shifted to the Trojans as they took that 21-7 lead into halftime.
Lassiter would force ML King into a turnover on downs adn then move inside the ML King 5 yard line but were forced to settle for a field goal making it 24-7.
ML King came right back driving the ball when Jonquel Dawson went down after an 8-yard run. Jermey Tyler would replace Dawson and would rush 19 yards on his first play and then scored on his next on a 3-yard touchdown run pulling ML King within 10 at 24-14 3:35 to play capping an eight-play 82 yard drive.
ML King would see the ball only one more time and Dawson would return, hitting Josh Stanford for 11 yards and then Blake Tibbs for 35 yards and leading the Lions down inside the Trojan 10 yard line. Tyler would come in as ML King would attempt to run it in. On third down Tyler appeared to have scored but was ruled short of the goal line. Tyler would try it again on fourth and goal from the half-yard line but the Lassiter defense would hold.
Lassiter took over with 9:10 remaining and would line up in the victory formation after 15 plays and 85 yards later after converted three third downs.
Lassiter forced the ML King offense with it's sound secondary play and kept them off the field.
Eddie Printz finished 24-35 for 235 yards 1TD 1INT passing. Isiah Willis had 22 carries 129 yards rushing.
ML King ends the season 12-1 overall and Region 2-5A Champions. Lassiter is 10-3 with a date with Walton in the state semifinals. Walton defeated Lassiter 34-10 during the regular season.

Propst decided to go for two and got it giving Colquitt not only their first lead of the game but a 32-31 victory, avenging their 19-10 loss at Camden in the 2009 state playoffs. Camden would again get an outstanding effort from JJ Green. Green scored on a 50-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Brice Ramsey (Ramsey also hit a 44-yard FG) and 52-yard touchdown run. The Colquitt defense who also chalk up a touchdown when John Gray returned a Brice Ramsey fumble 53-yards for a touchdown evening the score at 24 and setting up the final moments of drama.
