AMES, IA - The Kansas City Jets defeated the Ames Little Cyclones in their opening quarterfinal game in this weekend's Midwest High School Hockey League playoffs by a 6-1 final.

Trystan Sabina's first period goal got the Jets on the board and was the only scoring in the period. Two quick early goals and two quick late goals in the second helped the Jets take over the game with a 5-0 lead after two. The Cyclones got a late third period goal after a blue line turnover to spoil Blair Sanders' shutout bid, but Sammy Scibona's second of the game shortly thereafter sealed the win.

The Jets will face Quad City tomorrow at noon in a semifinal matchup.
