Eden Prairie goes 4-0 with a victory over Hopkins

HOPKINS, MN - Defending Champions Eden Prairie soar into next week with win number four against Hopkins. The Eagles scored on their first possession with a 1 yard td run by Derek Soderberg (PA good by Mars) after marching 68 yards in 6 plays. The Royals answered back with a nice drive of their own utilizing the arm of DenHartog but punted after 8 plays. The Royal defense held Eden Prairie to 3 and out and on their next offensive possession put a 14 play, 71 yard drive together capped off by a QB draw that yielded a 6 yard td run by QB JT DenHartog (PA good by Bolstad). It was 7-7 with 11:25 left in the first half.
Two Eden Prairie possessions later, coming off a Hopkins fumble, Connor Johnson caught a 53 yard td pass (PA good by Mars) which gave Eden Prairie a lead they wouldn't relinquish. 14-7 EP with 9:04 left in the first half. The Eagles scored next on a 1 yard td run by Dan Fisher 4 minutes later and put his team up 21-7. Hopkins then put together a 7 play, 61 yard drive together which ended with a DenHartog to Adam Caskey connection of 17 yards (PA good by Bolstad) and the Royals were again within 7 of EP. 21-14 Eagles with 2:23 left first half. Eden Prairie started on their own 46 off the kickoff and made quick work of it with a 4 play drive and another Dan Fisher td of 6 yards (PA good by Mars).
Halftime score: 28-14 Eden Prairie.
The second half saw Dan Fisher scoring the next 2 touchdowns on runs of 4 and 7 yards and had the largest lead in the game with 0:56 seconds left in the 3rd quarter, 42-14 Eden Prairie. Hopkins only touchdown came after that with a nice drive of 82 yards in 10 plays and a 33 yard td reception by Terrance Bowers from DenHartog (PA good by Bolstad) and with 9:10 left in the game the score would remain unchanged at 42-21.
