Stanwood wins Regional Round 77-67 over Enumclaw and advances to Tacoma Dome

STANWOOD, Northwest - The Stanwood Spartans' relentless defense and hot shooting gave them a fast start against The Enumclaw Hornets, they would have a 9-2 lead within minutes of the Start of the Game. The Spartans would go on to stretch the lead to 13 points a couple of times in the 1st half. Then the Enumclaw Hornets came back late in the second half with a 13-0 run to get a 1 point lead. The Spartans bounced back with a 8-0 run with a little over a minute left in the half to take a 38-31 halftime lead. The Spartans never gave up the lead in the second half. The Enumclaw Hornets stayed close the entire second half, at one time cutting the lead to 4 points, but that was as close as they could get to the Spartans. In two games in a row, clutch free throw shooting iced the game for the Spartans. Bryson Kelly went 10-12 at the free throw line with several key free throws in the final minute of play. Chase Streiby led the Spartans in Scoring with 25 points, A.J. Martinka, our NorthSound Physical Therapy Player of the Game scored 20 points, and had several Steals for the Spartans.
Basketball team is advancing to the State 3A finals in the Tacoma Dome for the 2nd time in three years.
