NEW ORLEANS, LA - This week’s WWL.com Game of the Week at the Shrine on Airline features two Catholic League foes, as the 6-3 (3-2 in district) Brother Martin Crusaders take on the 5-4 (2-3 in district) Jesuit Blue Jays.
The Crusaders, riding a four-game winning streak, are coming off of a big win against Archbishop Rummel, 27-22, two weeks ago and a 41-0 win against Shaw last Saturday. Once again, Brother Martin was led on offense by running back Bruce Jordan-Swilling and quarterback John-Paul Pierce. The latter fell awkwardly on his wrist in the first half of last week's contest, but returned to the game in the third quarter and seemed to be ok after the game.
On the other hand, Jesuit has had an up and down season, and this squad is looking to solidify its playoff position. The Blue Jays are coming off of a big win against a good Franklinton team, 56-21, last week, where running back Connor Prouet found the end zone six times.
Remember, last year’s game was a thriller, as Brother Martin won a nail biter, 49-46. This one should be no different.
Join us this Friday night, beginning at 6:40 p.m. on WWL.com, with David Kahn (DK) handling the play-by-play, and myself, Tony D’Amico, (The Ironman) and Brad Luminais (The Esquire) sharing the color. This game should be another Catholic League barnburner.
