NEW ORLEANS, LA - This week’s game of the week features two teams from Division I in a semi-final matchup between the Evangel Christian Eagles and the John Curtis Christian Patriots at the Shrine on Airline.

The Evangel Eagles come into this game off of a big win against the St. Paul's Wolves in Covington last Friday night, 28-21. Once again, the Eagles will have to travel, this time to Metairie, to play the undefeated and top-seeded John Curtis Patriots, who beat Archbishop Rummel last week, 34-20.

Looking back on these two teams, they have won a total of 39 State Championships between them. Overall, the Patriots lead the all-time series, 6-3.

One interesting thing to note this week is John Curtis’s tight end Glenn Beal has been suspended for two games, which means he will miss this semi-final game, and next week’s championship game if John Curtis is able to defeat Evangel. The suspension stems from an unsportsmanlike play that Beal was involved in last week against Rummel.

Either way, this is another heavyweight battle in Division I, with the winner advancing to the Division I Championship, next Friday night, in the Mercedes Benz Superdome.

Listen live beginning at 6:40 p.m. on WWL.com, with Brad Luminais (The Esquire) providing the play-by-play, myself, Tony D’Amico (The Ironman), with the color, and Joey Bruett covering the sidelines.
