How to Broadcast with MBP4 and Gametracker

Webcasting with Meridix Broadcast Producer 4 (MBP4) software and a gametracker is a simple, two step process. The two main steps are:

* Create an event in the browser, specifying your event title, team names, etc.
* Live stream your audio or video to the event using the MBP4 software

1. Start by opening up any browser window. Then, login with your LiveID and password into the LiveID Manager.

2. Once inside the LiveID Manager, click on the "Start Webcast" button.

3. Now you will see the webcast setup screeen. Here, simply follow the directions and select the type of event, team names, and answer other simple questions. Then click on the "START WEBCAST" button on the bottom of this screen.

4. Your audience will see the event available on your channel. You'll now be at the real-time scores/data input screen. On this screen, to change something such as a score, simply click on elements and they will be surrounded with a green box.  Change the data in the box and then click off of the box in the white space surrounding the page. When you click off of an item, it is automatically submitted to the network. No need to use complicated forms and buttons!

5. Be sure to connect and turn on any microphones/cameras or other equipment you'll be using.

6. While leaving your gametracker input (browser) window open, launch the MBP4 software, and enter your LiveID and password. Then click on the Login button.

7. MBP4 will detect the event you've created in the browser. Click on "Resume Event" to connect to this event.

8. Now you will see the encoder options screen, and the event name and type are automatically loaded at the top. You're not yet broadcasting (notice the indicator in the upper right corner says "OFF AIR"), but here you can adjust any of your settings, including devices, resolution, and bitrates before you go live.

9. Once you are ready to go on air, click on the "Broadcast" button in the upper right corner and you will be streaming live!  Notice the red LIVE, ON AIR indicator.

10. Now that you're live, update the gametracker data (in the browser) as often as you see fit. When you're done streaming, simply hit the "Stop" button in the MBP4. If you want to resume, you can always click on "Broadcast" again.

11. If you're completely DONE with your event, simply click on the red X in the upper right or the "Exit" button in the lower right. Before exiting, the system will ask if you wish to finish and archive the current event. Normally, you will click "Yes" to archive the event and close the encoder (clicking "No" will close the encoder but leave the event open for you to resume later).

12. After you've finalized all of your scores/stats/data, remember to click on the "Archive" button at the bottom of the gametracker input screen (in the browser window) to fully signal you're finished. The event is now complete!

Recommendations:

* In the browser when you first start, we recommend initializing as much data as you can, such as setting the period to "Pregame", etc.  If you are not updating all information on a play-by-play manner, simply put in 0's or a general statement such as "Thank you for joining us", whatever may be appropriate.

* If you ever leave the event unintentionally (for example, you lose your internet connection, computer crashes, need to reboot, etc), you can easily resume both the live input screen (browser) and live streaming (MBP4 software) right where you left off.

* When you are finished with the game, make sure all of the event information is filled in and the period field is set to "Final".  This tells your users that the event has finished.  Now to end the event, simply select the "Archive Event XXXX" button from the bottom of the LiveID Manager screen and confirm that this is the case.
