COTTAGE GROVE, Minnesota - It was homecoming for the Wolfack of Park of Cottage Grove and there wasn’t anything in the Roseville Raiders arsenal to counter the home field advantage.
The first half wasn’t fundamentally sound or offensively crisp for either team. Multiple penalties and turnovers dominated both sides of the ball. However, after two big-play touchdowns (and, coincidentally, two missed PAT’s) by Park and a short touchdown run by Roseville, the Wolfpack led 12-7 at the break.
The second half started off similar to how the first ended: sloppy play and miscues had coaches reaching for their acid reflux medication. Then, midway through the
third quarter, the Wolfpack came to life. They started finding seams on the ground and connecting on timely passes for first downs. They were a force not be stopped,
outscoring the Raiders 17-0 in the second half.
The homecoming crowd along with the execution of fundamentals led Park to their first victory of the season- vindicating their 31-21 loss to the Raiders 363 days prior. The Wolfpacks next opponent is Cretin-Derham Hall. The Raiders will host Hastings in their next game, still looking for their first win of the season.
