APPLE VALLEY, EAGAN, Minnesota - The Eastview Lightning hung on to defeat the Eagan Wildcats at Eastview Stadium tonight, winning a hard fought 23-21 victory, their first of the year. The Lightning led all the way beginning with a 9 yard touchdown pass from Ryan Reger to Frank Veldman in the first quarter.

Eastview's Jack Jacobson then kicked a 33 yard field goal in the second quarter. Eagan answered with a Bob Rada 51 yard touchdown run by Bob Rada. Eagan again drove deep into Eastview territory but lost the ball on downs with 1 minute left in the first half.

In the second half Eastview got their running game going with Derek Schatz leading the way with 150 in 25 carries. Schatz soored on a 1 yard run in the 3rd quarter to make it a 16 to 7 Eastview lead. The PAT was blocked.

The fourth quarter saw 3 touchdown passes starting with a Jameson Parsons pass for 26 yards to Matt Hentges which would be followed late in the game by a 37 yarder, again to Hentges.

With Eagan trailing 23-21 the Wildcats recovered an onside kick and trailed by 2 with 1:28 remaining. The Wildcats picked up 2 first downs advancing the ball to the Eastview 28 before Parsons was sacked on 4th down.

Eastview's offense, which had scored just 7 points in its previous 2 games looked sharp throughout the game.
