APPLE VALLEY, Minnesota - APPLE VALLEY- The Eastview Lightning used three rushing touchdowns from Derek Schatz to ruin Apple Valley’s homecoming and grab their third straight win.
The Lightning dodged a bullet early when the Eagles took the opening drive of the football game all the way down to the Eastview five-yard line but failed to score. Apple Valley had a second and one at the Eastview five but ended up losing 24-yards on their next two plays, and then missed a 46 yard field goal try. The Lightning then took over on the twenty and 6:13 later, Schatz scored from 4-yards out for the game’s first score. Apple Valley would never threaten again.
Schatz scored two more times in the third quarter, once from 5-yards out and again from 3-yards away, part of a night where he ran for 146 yards on 21 carries. Alex Suker also had a nice night running the football with 12 rushes for 83 yards. The Lightning improved to 3-2 on the season and 3-1 in South Suburban Conference play. Apple Valley is now 0-5 in conference and overall.
Apple Valley plays host to #6 Rosemount Friday night, while Eastview will take on Burnsville.
