Wayzata stays undefeated in a section semi-final win!

WAYZATA, MN - Section 5 Semi-Final played Saturday, October 29th 2011.

Halftime score was 14-7 Wayzata with all three touchdowns coming from 1 yard runs. Wayzata started things out with a 1 yard TD run from Antonio Ford (PA good by Tyler Scott)with 4:18 left in the 1st quarter. Then after forcing the Rebels to punt, the Trojans put a 7 play, 55 yard drive together and punched it in again from 1 yard out courtesy of RB Erik Roti (PA good by T. Scott) at the end of the first quarter. Champlin Park put together their most impressive drive in the 1st half when they started from their own 39 and marched 61 yards in 12 plays, including converting a 4th down. Michael Sales ran it in from 1 yard out with 2:40 left in the half (PA good by Tucker Lorentzen.

Halftime Score 14-7 Wayzata.

Then to start the 2nd half, Wayzata started on their own 23 and in just 2 plays scored again, this time from 5 yards out, with Antonio Ford carrying the pigskin. (PA good by T. Scott). To Champlin Park's credit, however, they never stopped fighting. On their next possession, they threw an interception but forced Wayzata to punt. Then after an 8 play drive all the way to Wayzata's 5 yard line, the Rebels were stopped on a 4th down, turning it over to the Trojans. They still hung in there, however, and forced Wayzata to fumble and then capitalized with a strong 6 play, 66 yard drive and a Michael Sales 1 yard touchdown run (PA good by T. Lorentzen) with 10:19 remaining in the game. The Rebel Defense held strong and forced Wayzata to punt on their next possession and gave the offense one more chance to tie things up. The Wayzata Defense was up to the task, however, and forced a turnover on downs to seal the victory 21-14.

Wayzata plays Osseo Friday, November 4th 2011.
