WAPATO, WA - Both the Wapato Boys and Girls Basketball Teams earned victories tonight in the 2012 CWAC/GNL Regional Crossover Games in Cheney. The Wapato Boys kicked off the night with a convicing 17 point victory over the Medical Lake Cardinals. Wapato welcomed back Guard Trevor Shavehead to the lineup for the first time in the last 4+ weeks. Shavehead had been out with a fractured toe, but was cleared to play this week. After barely missing his first couple of shots, Shavehead got back into his grove and he made 3 - 3 point baskets int he decisive 4th quarter to help Wapato seal the victory and advance past tonight's loser out contest. The Wolves have their sights set next on the Pullman Greyhounds whom they will play on Saturday Night at 6pm on Reese Court at Eastern Washington University. The winner of that contest will be playing in the Yakima Valley Sundome next Thursday in the round of 8.

On the girls side tonight, Pullman and Wapato were very evenly matched in the first half as Wapato had just a 1 point half time leade, 22-21. But the 3rd quarter was the story of this game as the Lady Wolves outscored the Lady Greyounds of Pullman 26-8 in the period, and Wapato never looked back as they came away with a convincing 61-41 victory tonight to advance to tomorrow night's contest at 7:45pm against the Clarkston Bantams. Wapato was lead by Senior Sammi Jo Blodgett's 21 point and Freshmen Lexi Gomez's 16 points (12 of those points coming from 3 pt land). The winner of tomorrow's ballgame will go on to play on Thursday in the Yakima Valley Sundome.

Good luck Wolves from all of us here at PNWSN.
