YAKIMA, WA - The Yakima Mavericks improved their season record to 2-0, 1-0 in conference, with a convincing 37-9 victory over the Oregon Outlaws on Saturday Night. All 3 parts of the team once again contributing to this week's victory.

Special Teams came up big with a recovery of a muffed punt in the end zone by Yakima's Jeremy Franch. This recovery helped keep the momentum going in the 3rd quarter as the Mavericks collected 16 pts in just 2:41.

Offensively, John Lobbesteal and company continued to surgically pick apart their opponent's defense. This week the running game took a little bit longer to get going compared to last week's; however, the Mavericks aerial attack didn't miss a beat as Quarterback John Lobbestael racked up 245 yards through the air while adding 3 TDs against only 1 INT. Lobbestael had 3 completions of 35 yards or more to really stretch the field.

Defensively, Yakima held Oregon to just 3 Field Goals all the while raising tons of havoc for the Outlaw offense. The Outlaws didn't get their first points of the game until time expired in the 2nd quarter as their kicker, Ian Maloney, connected on a 37yd FG. The Mavericks defense was lead by Linebacker Jesse Cardenas. Cardenas put on a virtual defensive clinic against the Outlaws collecting 15 Tackles, 1.5 Sacks, and 1 Forced Fumble. For his efforts Jesse Cardenas is the Pacific Northwest Sports Network/Eves Garden Player Of The Game. Congratulations Jesse from everyone here at PNWSN and Evens Garden.

This Saturday Night we'll travel to Spanaway and bring you complete Yakima Mavericks action as they take on the South Sound Shockers. Pre-Game will be at 5:45pm with kick off at 6pm.

Have a great week everyone!
